6/21/2000 - 0.4.0 of Ultimate Basketball Challenge released at last!
It's been a long long time since a new full release has been made. But here it is. There are several new features and fixes in this version.
-Title Screen and Main Menu- I've added a title screen supplied to me by a friend and a main menu I've created. important note.. on the main menu press the 'd' key to start a game
- Collisions - Players now collide with each other and bounce off. It's not perfect and somewhat buggy, but it'll improve.
- Allegro - UBC now links against allegro as stated in the 4-5-2000 snapshot release. It will help to make developing the game much easier.
- Offense and Defense - basic code for running an offense, settings picks as well as defensive sets have been implemented. There's still much work to be done here and the new collision code is causing some problems right now. But it will all be straightened out given time.
- 2 player support - Is disabled by default and known to be buggy. This will be improved in the next release.
- color palette - The color palette problems experienced in the previous snapshot have been mostly fixed except for a ghosting effect.
UBC also now relies on the libnet library which can be found in the links section and will soon offer networking support (if all goes well).
Various bugs have been fixed as well as much of the code has been rewritten and improved.
I've also moved the site to sourceforge.net The new link is Ultimate Basketball Challenge The code is now in a cvs repository as well as available as a download via ftp.
That about covers it. Cheers and feel free to send any bugs, patches or comments you have to me. My email address is at the bottom of this page.
Cheers,
Mike
4/5/2000 - New Snapshot available
- now builds and links against Allegro
1/2/2000 - UPDATE: Site moved
Hi, I haven't updated the website in quite a while due to various factors. As you can see I've moved the website, this should be a more stable server than my own. School's been taking a toll on time and energy. But all is not lost, I'm currently working on a snapshot for release 0.4.0. This will include 2 player support and a restructuring of the code base. I've also switched to the allegro game programming library, which can be found in the links section of the site.
As always I'm looking for anyone interested in helping the project out
Ultimate Basketball Challenge is being developed using the Allegro Game Programming library, which is linked to in the links section of this website.
Here are some goals I have for the Project:
A more complete list can be found HERE
- 5 on 5 full court games
- Ability to Add Players/Teams/courts etc. (including jerseys and whatnot)
- Realistic Artificial Intelligence
- Referee's for foul calling, out of bounds, etc.
- Crowd/Crowd animation
- Multiplayer support locally and over the internet
I'll add more ideas as I think of/write them.
I encourage anyone interested to E-mail me at the address below. I'm looking for anyone interested in helping out with the project.
